Objective I
Mitigate negative effects of boating
on the health of the lakes
1. Complete the voluntary code of conduct* about boating on the lakes
2. Post the voluntary code of conduct near the public access ramp to the
lake
3. Complete the implementation of
the vignette* and monitoring of the lakes project
4. Teach members about the effects of boating on the health of the lakes
Objective II
Inform and teach members about the
protection of the lakes
1. Test the water quality of the lakes and their tributaries during the
summer
2. Study the state of the shorelines around the lakes
3. Publish the annual newsletter "Echo from the lakes"
4. Continue the update and development of the association's website
5. Broadcast to the members results of the studies and tests performed by
the association
Objective III
Promote shoreline regeneration
1. Set a group order of shrubs and trees to be delivered at the well water
test day (see activities page)
2. Create a volunteer committee in charge of counselling and inform members
about shoreline's regeneration

Sign in members and offer them
services
1. Plan a door-to-door campaign
2. Organize the well water test day
3. Deal a rebate for our members on the emptying of septic tanks (see activities page)

Proposition to Lantier Municipal Council Our previous actions
- Voluntary planting of over 7000 trees and shrubs to regenerate our Lakes
- Diligently
raising the awareness level of the municipality of Lantier to enforce
their own regulations and their continued involvement in environmental
protection.
- Working in partnership with the municipality regarding the environmental protection regulations and their implementation.
- Including
lakes Ludger and Cardin in Dr. Carignan's study concerning the health
of Laurentian lakes – final report presented in December 2006.
- Participating in the purchase and installation of buoys on Lakes Ludger and Cardin asking boaters to follow regulations.
- Conducting lake water transparency tests on behalf of the Government of Quebec.
- Member of Regional Council of the Environment, Laurentides (CRELA)
The results of concerted action
- Preventing
shoreline erosion by adoption of municipal by-laws to restrict the
power boat speeds to 10Kmh in the shoreline zone of 50 meters.
- Track samples taken by the municipality, to verify the saftey of the Lakes for water activities.
- Preventing
the premature aging of the Lakes by adoption of municipal by-law (No.
99-2007), prohibiting the use of all pesticides in the municipality of
Lantier.
- Preventing the premature
aging of the Lakes by adoption of municipal by-law (No. 100 - 2007),
prohibiting the use of all fertilisers and any alteration of shoreline
vegetation in the municipality of Lantier.
- Verification of septic installations and their maintenance by the municipality (1988)
- The hiring of an environment specialist by the municipality.
